Most Popular Blogs

The most popular blogs on the internet come in two fashions:

  1. Blogs about blogging, twitter, or making money online
  2. Blogs about celebrities and entertainment

How does a blog reach most popular status

Much literature has been devoted to this very topic.  People are constantly giving advice online about what makes a popular blog and how to best drive readers.  Though everyone is giving advice, few people actually drive more than 10,000 views to their blog per month.  In the big picture, if you’re not getting more than 100,000 pageviews per month on your blog, there is no way you’re going to make an income that is going to sustain your life.

Qualities of the most popular blogs

1. Detailed quality content

People will read your blog if your content is to die for.  You have teach a reader something very valuable so that she keeps coming back for more and tells all of her friends about it.  After she reads your blog, she must have learned something new that she will be able to apply to her own life.  So very popular topics online are: personal development, personal finance, internet marketing, and blogging.

2. Post Frequency

The more posts you write, the more engagement you will have with your audience and the more traffic you will get to your blog.  However, never sacrifice quantity over quality.  If you can write 4 quality posts per week, then you’re way ahead of the game.  If you can only write 1 quality post per week, you better makes sure it is the best post on the internet.

3. How-to posts

Readers love how-to posts because blog readers love to learn something new.  Make sure that your how-to post is detailed, actionable, and that you’re not just teaching theory but you have actually put your advice to the test.  If you have not actually done the things that you teach, then you should not be teaching them.

4. A personal touch

The more emotion and personality that you put into your posts, the more readers will read your blog and subscribe to your post.  If you let your armor down, and people begin to get to know you as a person, then they will feel attached to the person behind the writing.  Add a personal touch and people willbe compelled to read every word you write.

5. Marketing

Content is king, but marketing is queen, and you know who runs the household.  It’s true, the best post can only go so far; you need to build a community and get them to share your content.  You need to build out your twitter followers and tweet out everytime you write a new post.  Marketing is the hardest part to do because people get lazy to do it.  However, if you do it well, you will be way ahead of the crowd.

No one becomes popular overnight

You may have dreams to become the next overnight success; well let me tell you that no one ever builds a popular blog within just 1 month or even 6 months.  You need to work hard every single day and write quality content consistently if you want to generate some serious revenue with your blog.  Take baby steps, watch your analytics, and never give up hope.
