Bloggers
Remember the days when we thought a blogger was a wannabe journalist who sat in coffee shops all day in his pjs typing away at a computer screen until his his coffee ran cold? Those days are a thing of the past because the new generation of bloggers have turned blogging into something geek-sexy.
The evolution of bloggers
The very first celebrity, big-name blogger was Perez Hilton. He was the quintessential type of blogger with a twist. Sure, he seemed like the weird, kept-to-himself kind of guy at the beginning, but eventually his writing turned into a phenomenon. The beauty about blogging is that it allows anyone, no matter where they come from or what their credentials are, to be able to express his or her feelings, emotions, and thoughts online for all to see. For those people who are talented at entertaining people with their words and personality, the blogging world is the ideal place to get their message heard and gather a following.
How bloggers have become sexy
It’s no lie that blogging has become mainstream. There are currently over 150 million blogs in the United States alone, and the number keeps growing and growing. But the impressive thing about the blogging culture is that it is no longer for the geek standing in front of his computer server. Bloggers have become sexy in a big way.
The sexiest bloggers
Celebrities are alright; Cewebrities are what’s HOT right now! Social media is taking over, and these are the three people that are leading the pack:
Shira Lazar - Shira has made her fame in the LA tech community. She is truly a bridge between the traditional tv media to the online social media. You can find her on CNN, Fox News, Vcast, and many other TV and online shows
iJustine - iJustine first bursted on the scene when she decided to tape herself opening her iPhone bill. A lover of all things Apple, iJustine is the face for cewebrities in the digital space.
Pete Cashmore - Leading for the fellas is Pete Cashmore who is the founder of Mashable.com.
Why do bloggers have so much power?
Bloggers have been gaining more and more power and influence because the Y Generation is slowly becoming older and more important to society. Just take a look at President Obama’s victory agains McCain. Obama successfully leverage social media through YouTube and Twitter to contact the Y Generation. Bloggers truly felt his message and words, and would constantly write blog posts about why he should be president which pushed Obama’s message viraly thought the internet.
But it’s not just about promoting a message. Bloggers are now able to generate revenue through their site by selling advertisement space. Companies are realizing that print and TV ads are not providing the return on investment that they used to. Online, people have a greater possibility of clicking an ad, engaging with an ad and the company behind it, and sharing the company message if it is powerful or sticky enough. The potential spread of ideas online has lead companies to focus on figuring out how to best target bloggers and make them write about their products.
It’s a bloggers world
Blogging is not for everyone. You’ll read a lot of material online that preaches about how every individual who cares about her personal brand needs to blog; every company that cares about its brand needs to blog. But is this really the case?
If you don’t have anything interesting to say or if you don’t have anything valuable to teach, then blogging is not for your. Use tools like Twitter or Tumblr that are more casual and allow for a quicker online experience. But if you do have something valuable to say or teach, then you owe it to the world to share your brain through the art of blogging.
