What is Viralogy?
Viralogy is the Social Media Rank - we measure how influential everyone is on the internet based on a variety of
social media metrics. You can think of us as analytics service for people, not websites.
How does Viralogy help me as a blogger?
If you claim your blog on Viralogy (likely resulting in a higher VScore), it can help you do 3 things:
- Establish more authority in your niche
- Get discovered by new readers
- Potentially monetize your blog
How does Viralogy help me as a social media professional?
Viralogy saves you time by doing all the dirty work of:
- Locating the Top 100 (or 1000) Influencers in your niche
- Researching blogger and tweeter analytics on one clean page
- Contacting the influencers directly with a high response rate
Why should I claim my blog?
Here at Viralogy we don't just love data - we live it.
Claiming your blog results in a higher VScore since at Viralogy we value exact data much more than estimated data. Once you've claimed your blog, you can also put our Viralogy Badge on your site to get votes that will increase your VScore too.
Once you have a higher VScore, you will be able to:

What is the VScore?
The VScore is your aggregated score on how influential you are on the internet. We gather data from all sorts of social media metrics and run it through an algorithm to produce your VScore.
Your VScore is what ultimately determines your rank on Viralogy.

What are the metrics used to determine the VScore?
Currently, the Viralogy VScore factors in Blog Traffic, Comments Per Post, Average Stay on blog, Linkbacks, Pagerank, Twitter Followers, Mentions, Retweets and more. In future releases we plan to factor in Digg popularity ratio, Youtube Subscribers, Friendfeed Followers, Facebook Fans, Linkedin Recommendations, Best Answers, and more.
Why is my "traffic" so inaccurate?
If you have not claimed your blog on Viralogy, there is no way for us to determine your real traffic. Currently we show Compete.com's traffic as a extremely large ballpark to what your traffic may be. If you want us to present accurate information, you need to claim your blog. (Note: Viralogy is not affiliated with Compete.com)
How do I make my info more accurate?
To make your information more accurate, you need to claim your blog, add your Twitter profile, and ensure that the tags about your blog are correct. The more accurate info we have - the higher your VScore!
Does my Compete.com Traffic factor into my VScore?
Short answer: no. Estimated traffic via sites such as Compete.com is often quite accurate - but not always. Without claiming your blog we are unable to verify your actual traffic and, as we said before, we value accuracy very highly.
Do I have a high VScore?
The road to gaining more influence on the internet is long and vast, and it takes a lot of time, reader interaction, and patience to become truly influential. Since influence is all relative, there is not an easy way to truly determine if your VScore is high or not. The majority of the people will have a VScore below 300, but top influencers can have a VScore of over 10,000!
The best way to find out if your VScore is where you want to be is to compare it with your friends(make sure they have claimed their blogs too) and people you look up to.
How do I improve my VScore?
Besides claiming your blog and verifying all your social media metrics, one of the most effective ways to improve your VScore is to put our Viralogy Badge onto your blog and ask your readers to vote you up. Voting is our most subjective measure - but also indicates high involvement by a readership.
You also want to make sure you are constantly generating good content, engaging your audience, being "social" in social media, and creating value for as many people as you can. It's always best to do things the White Hat way.

How do I pick which category I'm in?
Viralogy decides which categories you are in based on the Tags you assigned your blog, as well as some keywords in your blog content. Claiming your blog and constantly creating content that is relevant in your niche is the best way to make sure you are in the right category on Viralogy. You can modify your tags on your My Account page.
How do I know where I rank?
You can put the Viralogy badge on your blog, which always shows your up-to-date VScore within a specific niche to your readers!
