What Does Every Successful Social Media Campaign Have In Common?

Square one, or, how they start their campaign, is what they have in common…

…Because when you do that right, it can be the difference between instant customer adoption or a long drawn-out product failure.

So, what’s square one?

Confidence.

Let me explain.

The Only Job You’ll Ever Have

Steve Spalding is the managing partner of Crossing Gaps, a Florida based firm that helps businesses launch successful web campaigns. He blogs at How To Split An Atom and recently authored the book All The Little Things

Your only job as an entrepreneur is to tell a great story.

Building a great product is a given, without one, you’re dead in the water.

Having a great team is a given, without one, you might as well stop now.

It’s a life based on freedom, choice and flexibility. We are Location Independent Professionals (LIPs), working from anywhere in the world we choose (with an internet connection).”

The Importance of Names

Stuart Foster is a marketing consultant in the Boston area. He specializes in brand management, social media, and blog outreach. He authors a blog at Thelostjacket.com and is a Social Media Strategist at Mullen.

Naming, language and interpretation are important in other fields. However, they are central to the practice, implementation and learning of Marketing & PR. Why? Simple: the process of understanding and deconstructing of complex concepts into simple stories form the back-bone of our industry. Say what?

Language and visual communication comprise all of our work. Having a firm grasp of both is essential for creating a fantastic campaign, program or philosophy for a company.

Why is this more important now then it ever has been? Lines of communication are blurring, messages are spreading faster and the language/naming of concepts and practices are rapidly changing.
