Free Blog Advertising
If you’re a serious blogger, then you’re always looking for a way to advertise your blog. Even better is if you can figure out a way to advertise it for free. You can always pay for Google Adwords or pay to be advertised on another popular blog, but being in the social media world has its perks because you never have to spend a single dime to advertise your personal brand - all that it’s going to take is some hard work.
Free Blog Advertising through Twitter
Twitter is such a great resource for bloggers to use. It’s completely free, and you have the ability to message anyone at anytime. Here are some rules to follow before you start blasting people with your @ replies:
- Don’t randomly spam people. Yes, you can message anyone you want, but that doesn’t mean that you should just spray all of Twitter with your message. Pick and choose the right people
- Don’t randomly follow everyone hoping that they’ll follow you back. The goal is not to hoard a bunch of followers; the goal is to build a real community around your name or brand.
- Build relationships and remain authentic. Don’t try to be someone or represent something you’re not. The social media world spreads information fast, so if someone catches you on a lie, everyone will know about it soon enough
The best tool for you to use is http://Search.Twitter.com. Search your name or your blog’s name and see who is talking about it. Once you find these people, send them an @ and build a relationship with them. Now that’s effective free advertisement.
Free Blog Advertising through blog commenting
The ability to write an excellent blog comment is a lost art. Lots of people will just copy and paste something in the blog comment section that is just spam, which immediately gets deleted anyways so no one sees it. When strategically leaving comments on blogs, it is important to read the entire post and write a comment that is intelligent and adds something to the conversation.
Another very important element is to hyperlink your link in text. For example, the following word Young Entrepreneur is linked to http://JunLoayza.com. I accomplish this hyplerlink with the following html:
<a href=”http://JunLoayza.com”>Jun Loayza</a>
In this way, it doesn’t look like spam because your link url isn’t just splattered in the comment section, it’s neatly embedded in text.
Free Blog Advertising through Facebook
Blog commenting and Twitter are much more effective than Facebook, nonetheless, FB is still an effective way to get your name out. Use the status bar strategically by putting your blog link as your status. RSS your blog in the notes section so that your most recent blog post gets instantly imported onto your profile page. Lastly, Sync your Facebook account with your gmail so that you can gain in friends and reach out to as many people as possible.
